Rock music is mainly based around amplified instruments revolving more around the electric guitar and electric base. The popularity of rock music began in the 1950's ; a blend of rhythm and blues mixed with country and western. Slow ballad songs are also part this popular genre. In the 70's a darker genre known as Heavy Metal or Hard Rock began as more popular bands such as Led Zeppelin put it into style. Of course more genres emerged later on like Punk, Pop Punk, Rap-Rock and my personal favorite, Alternative rock. Rock became known by its true meaning that helped a a lot of people feel more free and feel more like themselves.
There was a lot of controversy and still is, that rock music encourages rebellious acts to the youth. Most people believe that it is a bad influence for teens to listen to rock today which I disagree with because i believe that rock influenced me to become a better person.
